I am the assistant manager of the Château de Rochecotte, a 4-star hotel and gourmet restaurant located in the heart of the Loire Valley, between the châteaux of the Loire and the vineyards of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil.
This page outlines my background, my responsibilities at the school, and my perspective on Rochecotte.

About Carla Brosset
A Brief Overview of My Career
After graduating fromVatel, I gained hands-on experience in the hospitality industry starting in high school. In 2016, my first internship at the Palace des Neiges in Courchevel gave me the opportunity to work in several operational departments. The following year, I joined the Château de Rochecotte as a housekeeper during the school holidays.
In late 2017, I completed an internship in human resources at the Warwick Brussels, where I gained experience in recruitment, onboarding, and team organization. In 2018, after working as a dining room attendant at the Hôtel Pan Dei Palais in Saint-Tropez, I returned to Rochecotte to take charge of marketing and communications.
In particular, I worked on newsletters, the website, SEO, social media, and customer reviews on Booking, Google, Expedia, and TripAdvisor. I also developed partnerships with local producers and artisans in the areas of honey, vineyards, and equestrian and cycling activities.
In 2020, after becoming an executive assistant, I helped reorganize the property during the health crisis. In particular, I designed new lodging packages, launched day-trip options such as “My Day at the Château,” created new signature cocktails, and helped manage the teams.
I then built on this experience with an internship at GIRA in Paris, followed by a position in inventory management at Eden Rock in Saint Barthélemy in 2022.
Since May 2023, I have been the Executive Assistant at the Château de Rochecotte. I coordinate the day-to-day operations of the hotel and the fine-dining restaurant, oversee yield management across our direct channels and OTAs, supervise sales and marketing initiatives, and ensure the onboarding of new employees.
This career path—spanning front-of-house operations, management, marketing, and administration—has given me a comprehensive understanding of how a hotel operates.

The History of Rochecotte Castle
During the Hundred Years’ War, Rochecotte served as a military outpost tasked with monitoring the advance of English troops. In 1767, the estate became the property of the Guillon de Rochecotte family.
In 1828, Duchess Dorothée de Dino acquired the château and gave it its current architectural style, inspired by Italian villas. A close friend of Talleyrand, she turned it into a gathering place for politicians, writers, and journalists, including Honoré de Balzac and Adolphe Thiers.
In 1940, Rochecotte became home to archives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the original Treaty of Versailles. After being closed for several decades, the château was purchased in 1984 by the Pasquier family, who transformed it into a boutique hotel.
For several years now, I have been compiling the events that have shaped the history of the Château de Rochecotte to create a book, which is now nearing completion. I draw on my grandmother’s memories and my research in the archives. This work allows me to gain a deeper understanding of the château’s history and to help preserve it for future generations.
My Perspective on the Château de Rochecotte
Throughout my time at Rochecotte, I’ve learned to view the hotel as a whole: its history, its architecture, its dining, its grounds, but also the way the staff and guests bring the place to life every day. It is this balance between the château’s heritage and the life of a modern hotel that, in my view, defines Rochecotte’s identity.
Located between Tours and Saumur, we are also fortunate to be in the heart of a particularly rich region. The châteaux of the Loire Valley, the vineyards, the cuisine, and the landscapes of Touraine are a natural part of the experience we want our guests to discover.
From the fine-dining restaurant to the park, from the heated pool to the guest rooms, every element contributes to this identity. It is in this spirit of continuity that we are evolving Rochecotte, preserving what gives it its character while imagining new ways to bring it to life.

Rochecotte, Tomorrow
I want to make Rochecotte a well-known destination among Touraine’s charming venues, strengthen our local roots, and stay close to our guests.
I also want to expand the events at the Château de Rochecotte, with new gatherings open to both our guests and local residents. Following the murder mystery parties, drag queen nights, shows, and farmers’ markets, I want to continue coming up with events that break the mold and offer a different way to experience the château.
